Grand Egyptian Museum — Rates, Photos & Booking Help

A private guided tour of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) beside the pyramids of Giza — the largest museum in the world devoted to a single civilisation, home to the complete treasures of Tutankhamun displayed together for the first time. About 4 hours, from $140 per person.

4 Hours Private Tour Newly Opened 👑 Complete Tutankhamun
The Grand Egyptian Museum opened in full in November 2025 and admits visitors by timed-entry ticket booked online in advance — we secure your slot as part of the tour. The galleries are vast, so a guide is the best way to see the highlights without fatigue; plan on at least three to four hours. It sits right beside the Giza plateau, so it pairs perfectly with a pyramids tour, and the galleries generally close in the early evening, with later hours on some days.

Grand Egyptian Museum — Overview

Opened in full in November 2025 after decades in the making, the Grand Egyptian Museum is the largest museum in the world devoted to a single civilisation. It rises from the desert on the Giza plateau, just two kilometres from the pyramids and deliberately aligned with them, so that the ancient wonders and the great new museum face one another across the sand.

You enter through a soaring atrium where an eleven-metre colossus of Ramesses II stands beneath a glass roof, then climb the monumental Grand Staircase — lined with sixty pharaonic statues — to galleries that frame a breathtaking view of the pyramids through a wall of glass. Beyond lie twelve great halls charting five thousand years of Egyptian history, from prehistory to the Greco-Roman age, together with the restored Solar Boat of Khufu that once lay buried beside the Great Pyramid.

At its heart is the reason the world has waited so long: for the first time since Howard Carter opened the tomb in 1922, the complete treasures of Tutankhamun — more than five thousand objects, crowned by the famous golden mask — are displayed together in a single, purpose-built sequence. It is, quite simply, the finest place on earth to encounter ancient Egypt.

Tour FAQ

How long should I plan for?
The museum is enormous, so plan at least 3 to 4 hours for the highlights. A private guide helps you focus on the best of it without museum fatigue.
Is the museum open?
Yes. The Grand Egyptian Museum was fully inaugurated on 1 November 2025, with all galleries open, including the complete Tutankhamun collection.
Are entrance tickets included?
Yes. Entry is by mandatory timed-entry ticket booked online in advance, and we arrange it for you along with your private guide and transfers.
Where are the royal mummies?
The royal mummies are displayed at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC), not at the GEM. The GEM holds the treasures of Tutankhamun and tens of thousands of other artefacts.
Is hotel pickup included?
Yes. Private pickup and drop-off at your Cairo or Giza hotel are included in an air-conditioned vehicle.
Can it be combined with the Pyramids?
Yes, ideally. The museum sits about 2 km from the Giza pyramids and even shares their view, so it pairs naturally with a pyramids tour as a full day.
Can children join?
Absolutely. The GEM even has a dedicated children museum. Infants up to 4 are free, and children from 4 to under 12 receive a 50% discount.
Please Note: Prices are calculated based on entrance fees, fuel price and local taxes as at June 30, 2020. Any increase in entrance fees, fuel price or local taxes will be reflected on any unpaid tour immediately. However, any pre-paid tour will not be affected by the change of rates. We highly recommend booking your tours in advance to be protected from price fluctuation.
