Pyramids, Valley Temple and Sphinx — Rates, Photos & Booking Help
Half-day private tour to the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Valley Temple and the Great Sphinx with an expert Egyptologist guide. 4 hours, from $40 per person.
4 HoursPrivate TourCultural & Historical🔥 Hot Deal
The Giza Plateau opens early, and the calmest light with the thinnest crowds is before 9 AM, so an early start is well worth it. Summers on the plateau are intensely hot and largely shadeless — October through April is far more comfortable for walking between the monuments. Wear closed, supportive shoes for uneven ground and soft sand, bring sun protection and water, and note that entry into the interior chambers of the Great Pyramid is a separate ticket purchased on site. Modest dress is sensible if you plan to combine the tour with Coptic or Islamic Cairo.

Pyramids, Valley Temple and Sphinx — Overview
The Giza Plateau, on the western edge of Greater Cairo, holds the oldest and only surviving wonder of the ancient world. Raised during Egypt's Fourth Dynasty, around 2600–2500 BC, the three great pyramids were built as royal tombs for the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, aligned with astonishing precision to the cardinal points and to the stars.
The Great Pyramid of Khufu stood as the tallest structure made by human hands for nearly four thousand years. Beside it, the pyramid of Khafre appears taller thanks to its higher ground and still keeps a cap of the original polished casing at its summit. Guarding the plateau lies the Great Sphinx, a limestone lion with a pharaoh's face, carved from a single outcrop and watched over by the Valley Temple, where kings were ritually purified before burial.
Standing among them is the closest most travellers will come to touching the scale and ambition of ancient Egypt — which is why no first visit to Cairo is complete without it.
